Marc Reeves is a highly experienced journalist, editor, senior media executive and digital entrepreneur. He is editor of TheBusinessDesk.com in the West Midlands, and is a former editor of the The Birmingham Post. He is regarded as one of the best-connected figures in the West Midlands, with links to community groups, business leaders, politicians and influencers throughout the region.
He worked in local and regional newspapers for more than 20 years, in a number of positions from reporter to assistant managing director. In 2006 he returned to his home town to edit the Birmingham Post. During his tenure, he positioned the Post as a leading digital innovator in the regional press and a pioneer of the use of social media as a tool to help media organisations engage in new ways with new audiences.
In 2010 he joined theBusinessDesk.com to launch its website in the West Midlands.
TheBusinessDesk.com is one of the leading examples in the UK of an exclusively online news and information service, offering regional business journalism across a number of digital platforms. It is commercially and editorially successful, with growing audiences and revenues, at a time of general decline across traditional media.
in 2010, he was asked by Sion Simon, then creative industries minister at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, to sit on the panel to decide the winning bidders for the pilot licences to run local TV services under the Independently Funded News Consortia Initiative.
Marc is chairman a member of the Lunar Society, sits on the board of Digital Birmingham and is on the fund raising committee for St Basil’s, a Birmingham-based charity for young homeless people.
