We’re excitedly preparing for the start of our next (and sixth!) accelerator cohort in April 2015, and we’re looking for a few of you to join us.
Take a read of our latest team opening at Oxygen.
Position: Entrepreneur in Training
Location: Birmingham
Start date: April 2015 for 3 months
Application deadline: March 25th 2015
We’re on a mission to support and grow successful tech startups that make headlines and history.
Startups with big, world-changing, continent-shifting ideas. Startups run by talented, entrepreneurial people, who have what it takes to make their ambitions a reality.
And we want you to join us.
We’re looking for 4 Oxygen Accelerator Entrepreneurs in Training (EiT’s) to help us grow the next big startup. This is a voluntary role with a package of perks and further opportunities in the future for the right person.
What is an Entrepreneur in Training?
Our EiTs are people who want to get involved in the startup world, or already have their own startups and want to soak up the lessons from people a few steps ahead of them. You’ll learn what it really takes to start a tech startup by surrounding yourself with our Accelerator startups for 3 months.
As an EiT, you’ll embed yourself into a few of our startup teams, providing valuable support and input, as well as helping the Oxygen team run the Accelerator programme.
“I wanted to become an Entrepreneur in Training to get more involved in the startup scene and help early stage startups on their digital marketing strategies. If you’re passionate about tech startups and want to get some hands on experience to help develop your career, I’d recommend working for Oxygen.” Chris Kilroy, EiT in 2013

This is who you are
You love the startup world. Like us, you love meeting people with an amazing tech idea, and you love helping them grow.
You are willing to get stuck into a number of different businesses and are willing to do what it takes to grow a startup from nothing to the next game-changing startup.
You might be working on a startup yourself, or maybe you want to some day. Or maybe you just know that you want to live a life less ordinary. In the words of Kid President, “The world needs to stop being so boring”. Right now though, you’re in the middle of something else (for example studies) and you’re figuring out what’s next. In the mean time, you want to learn.
You’re looking to help build startups, but also your networks and connections. You want to meet other interesting, intelligent, motivated people. People with energy, drive, and passion.
This is who we are
We are Oxygen.
We’re on a mission to support and grow successful tech startups that make headlines and history.
Startups with big, world-changing, continent-shifting ideas. Life transforming ideas that knock you sideways.
We believe there’s nothing more exciting than the entrepreneurial mentality, because anything seems possible. We find, work with and support remarkable entrepreneurs at every stage of their startup journey.
From ideas weekends to our five day Pre-Accelerator and our flagship 13 week Accelerator, Oxygen offers programmes for the whole startup journey.
Since we started in 2011, we’ve worked with 300 startups, supporting 1,300 entrepreneurs in person and 5,000 online, in 20 countries, and helped startups raise £7M in investment to date. We have a network of over 200 mentors and investors. Oxygen was listed as one of the Top European Accelerators in 2014 by the Guardian.
The way we think
We believe that Kid President’s word is gospel*.
We believe in taking the road less travelled. Even if it hurts, man.
We believe in getting shit done. In the words of a certain Steve, “It’s not done until it ships.”
We believe that there’s nothing more exciting than a roomful of people working together to change the world.
We believe in failing hard and picking yourself back up again.
We believe nothing great was ever created without a little fear.
The Entrepreneur in Training role
This is a voluntary role, and we expect you’ll spend about 3 months with our startups. You will be involved with the day-to-day organisation and development of the businesses, and have direct contact with the Oxygen Accelerator team, as well as our mentors, advisors and investors.
Time commitment: part time position – as much as you’d like to give.
Start: End of March 2015 – end of June 2015
Your role: To assist our tech startups on a variety of tasks to help further their progress and assist the Oxygen Accelerator team on running events.
Tasks will be assigned to you based upon your preferred areas of interest, skill and availability. Example tasks:
- Conducting market research
- Competitor analysis
- Writing blogposts

We’ve put together the following package of perks for our EiTs:
– Local bus or train travel to and from Birmingham office
